Hours before the top brass of the state administration accorded red carpet welcome to Home Minister P Chidambaram this morning when he arrived in Ranchi to discuss the issue of Naxalism in the state with senior officials,Naxalites shot dead four persons in neighbouring Khunti district.
The incident took place at Chalgi village,10 km from Khunti on Friday night. Although the police reached the site on Saturday morning,the deceased were yet to be identified. Even the motive of the crime which is suspected to have been committed by the Peoples Liberation Front of India,a breakway faction of the CPI (Maoist),was not known.
Chidambaram,accompanied by a battery of officials including the Union Home Ministrys Special Secretary Raman Srivastava and the CRPF IG P.N.Nair,is slated to hold discussions with the states senior officials at the Raj Bhawan during the forenoon.
Before he returns to New Delhi in the afternoon,he was expected to hold the press conference.
