The state focus paper,prepared by the NABARD for Himachal Pradesh,proposes a more than 25 per cent hike in the priority sector for this fiscal year with the highest credit projections for crop loans in the agriculture sector,beside services,manufacturing,housing and educational sectors.
The paper,released by Chief Secretary Sudripta Roy at a seminar here on Tuesday,presented an overview of the rural scenario in Himachal Pradesh and listed exploitable bankable potential for the credit flow,with particular focus on the agriculture sector.
It identified the highest potential for crop loans within the agriculture sector at Rs 2,319 crore it represents 57.06 pc of the credit potential of the Agriculture sector in view of the emphasis to issue Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) as also a large number of KCCs having been issued to farmers by the banks.
Naresh Gupta,chief general manager ( HP Regional Office) said the paper has also identified the gaps in infrastructure,such as irrigation,roads with outline on interventions needed by banks and government to enhance credit flow to the Priority Sector.
