Money laundering in coal block allocation: SC seeks report from ED

SC asks ED to respond by 15 on an application moved by NGO Common Cause.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Enforcement Directorate to inform it about the actions taken by the agency on charges of money laundering pertaining to coal block allocation cases.

A bench led by Justice R M Lodha issued a notice to ED,seeking its response by December 15 on an application moved by NGO Common Cause. The NGO has sought directions to ED to take all penal actions,including attachment of proceeds of alleged crimes,besides submitting status reports with the court.
