After the four rallies of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, held last month in the state, failed to draw the desired response,AICC general secretary in-charge for the state,Madhusudan Mistry has called a review meeting of all the zones in Lucknow.
The purpose of the meeting, scheduled for November 9,is to review activities that regulated party affairs in the last one month, discuss lacunae and plan strategy for all the eight zones in the state.
The review meeting will be attended by zonal in-charges,co-ordinators and other senior party leaders.
Sources in the party inform that the UP Congress has requested that some changes, pertaining to Rahul Gandhis rallies in the state,be made. One such request is holding a single rally instead of two in a day, which the state unit believes will be easier to concentrate on and mobilise the crowd of as against participating in two, wherein the efforts get divided.
The Congress vice-president had,on October 9,addressed two rallies in Aligarh and Rampur, while two other in Hamirpur and Deoria on October 30. Mistry had accompanied Rahul in these rallies.
Apart from the state unit and zonal teams, each of four AICC secretaries in-charge for the state were given the responsibility of preparing for one rally. They were asked to camp in the region before the rallies. While Rampur and Deoria were better,Aligarh and Hamipur were worst in terms of crowd mobilisation.
Undoubtedly, holding one rally in a day is not only easier to manage,it can also produce better results, said a senior party leader. Sources in the party inform that Rahul was especially upset with the poor response in Bundelkhand (Hamirpur rally)and has taken senior party leaders from the region to task for their inability to bring a decent crowd.
