A man allegedly stabbed his woman friend to death outside Khalsa College close to a police barricade in broad daylight on Wednesday. He even told mediapersons,who had reached the scene,that he committed the murder as he suspected her fidelity.
Police have identified the accused as Pooran Chand (55),a rickshaw puller and a resident of Tilak Nagar. They added that Pooran was married and had three children. The victim has been identified as Veena (43).
According to police,Pooran doubled up as a cook and along with Veena worked in some houses in Defence colony. Police said that on Wednesday while they were returning from work,Pooran pulled out a huge knife and repeatedly stabbed the woman. He allegedly suspected her of having several illicit affairs.
ASI Balwinder Singh,who was manning the traffic police naka,noticed the woman lying in a pool of blood and rushed to her. Police nabbed the accused then and there while the victim was rushed to the hospital,where doctors declared her brought dead.
