BJP national president Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for questioning the measures taken by the Modi government to strengthen national security.

“Rahulji you are wearing Italian glasses, that is why you see no difference. I will tell you the difference. During the Congress government, Pakistan used to start firing at the border and would also end it. In our government, while Pakistan starts the firing, it is our Army that ends it. Vahaan (Pakistan) se goli aati hai yahaan se gola jaata hai,” Shah said, addressing a party meeting in Amritsar.

He also rubbished the charge that the BJP government favoured corporate houses and said that for 68 years, it was Congress that ruled the nation with schemes that were “for capitalists”.

He added that the BJP, on the other hand, was formulating pro-poor schemes.

“BJP has made arrangements for loans from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10 lakh for marginalised sections,” he said. On the land acquisition bill, Shah said there was no provision where farmers’ land would be given to corporates.
