In a major tragedy in Himachal Pradesh,all 21 passengers in an ill-fated bus,which met with an accident in Sirmaur district on Friday morning,died after lone survivor,a 14-year-old boy also succumbed to his injuries.
Earlier,19 people were reported killed and two others were injured. The private bus no HP 71 – 1316,belonging to Bedi transport service had skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge,600 feet down from the road cliff in the mountainous area.
The bus was on its way from Uccha Takkar – a high mountain – to Renuka at around 7.20 am when the accident happened.
Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar confirmed to the Indian Express that all 21 persons,including driver and conductor,had died.
The wreckage of the bus,which has been reduced into a junk,was beyond recognition after it had rolled down from the hill top,75 km from Nahan,district headquarter of Sirmaur.
The rescue teams faced problems in taking the bodies out of the wreckage of the bus even as few were traced along the hill apparently been thrown out of the bus as it had taken several rolls.
Said Deputy Commissioner Vikas Labroo “The total number of passengers traveling in the bus was 19 beside driver and conductor. All were locals. Bad road condition could also be a cause of accident.”
