The CBI Wednesday examined K V Mohanan, vice-president (finance) of Reliance Industries Limited, for over eight hours at its headquarters here in connection with its probe into the alleged leaks and sale of confidential government documents from the ministries of finance and commerce and industry to corporate houses. Mohanan is likely to be examined again on Thursday, the agency sources said.
“RIL’s vice-president, finance, K V Mohanan joined the CBI probe Wednesday,” a CBI official confirmed.
On Tuesday, the company had said that a notice to witness had been served on one of its officers. The company was ascertaining the facts and would be able to decide a course of action after his interaction with the authorities, an RIL spokesperson had said.

Sources said Mumbai-based Mohanan arrived at the CBI office shortly after noon Wednesday, and the CBI officers examined him till 9 pm.
According to the CBI, it is probing the roles of many companies in getting inputs, and in this regard it had also summoned the senior RIL officer to New Delhi for his links with Mumbai-based CA-cum-consultant Khemchand Gandhi, who was arrested by the agency on March 12. Whether Reliance is a beneficiary or not is a matter of investigation, the CBI sources said.
The CBI had also summoned prominent CA Rajendra Chitale, a partner in Mumbai-based firm Chitale and Associates, to Delhi, but CBI officers Wednesday said he was yet to join their probe.
On March 13, the CBI had arrested Paresh Chamanlal Budhadev, a partner in Chitale and Associates, for destruction of evidence. He was allegedly trying to destroy documents, but some were recovered, the CBI said.
