The Kashmir University is contemplating disciplinary action against students who allegedly instigated protests on the campus over the announcement of examination schedule.

Protests had erupted last night in the university premises after students complained about the university authorities’ decision to conduct examination from October 18 without taking the recent unrest in the Valley into account.

“There is a possibility that action will be taken as indiscipline cannot be tolerated,” University proctor Mohammad Afzal Zargar said.

Students alleged that Zargar and his staff manhandled them and used abusive language against them. However,Vice Chancellor Riyaz Punjabi refuted the allegations.

“No one has been manhandled. It (allegations) is absolutely wrong,” he said.
