Designers share the ramp with special kids

“It’s not about fashion here but about standing for a cause. I have been associated with Tamana for many years and it’s my privilege to be make a difference to the lives of many. It’s a great experience to be here,” Rajesh said.

His collection included usage of bright colours like pink,orange and yellow.

“It was all made from Khadi and was just an extension to my previous summer line,” Singh added.

Present at the event were Union cabinet Minster for Law and Justice Salman Khurshid,Shashi Tharoor and wife Sunanda Pushkar,Minister for Social Welfare Kiran Walia and FDCI chairman Sunil Sethi.

“We politicians always talk about bridging the gap between religions,states,but their is another level where it is required to narrow down the gap and that is these physical aspects. I congratulate Mrs Chona for setting up Tamana and making it reach to this level that it affects so many lives,” Khurshid said.

The event also had dance performances by special kids to live music and songs by ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs’ former contestant Diwakar Sharma.

Tamana has been active since 1984 was founded by Shyama Chona,a Padma Bhushan recipient,to help the mentally challenged,multiply disabled and autistic children.

Chona,whose daughter is a special kid herself,said if it was not for her daughter she wouldn’t have got the strength to help other kids.

“My only aim is to bring these kids on the same platform as we are. I want the differentiation to end and the negative attitude of people towards these kids to change. I want these kids to be employed one day and lead a normal life,” Chona said.
