Cops book Jalandhar woman for selling daughter twice

The Jalandhar police has registered a case against a woman for allegedly selling her minor daughter twice: once to a Jalandhar resident and then to two Ludhiana-based youth.

The Jalandhar police has registered a case against a woman for allegedly selling her minor daughter twice: once to a Jalandhar resident and then to two Ludhiana-based youth. Six others have also been booked for the incident after the girl,who was abused physically,approached the police with the help of her aunt.

Police sources said that the victim has accused her mother,a resident of Nawan Pind village in Kartarpur,of initially selling her off to one Mangi,a resident of Basti Bawa Khel,for Rs 5 lakh. Sources added that Mangi allegedly physically abused the girl for four months before she managed to flee. When she returned to her mother,however,she was again allegedly sold for Rs 2 lakh to two Ludhiana-based youth.

According to police,she fled again and approached her aunt,who then brought her to the police station. Based the girl’s complaint a case under section 366A,323,506 and 34 of IPC was registered against the girl’s mother,Mangi and six others at the Basti Baba Khel Police station. SHO Makhan Singh said the girl has alleged that her mother used to torture her and had forced her to perform immortal activities.
