Mounting its attack on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, the BJP on Thursday alleged that the conference which he was supposed to attend in the US got over in July. The party said the Congress was resorting to “falsehood to hide facts”.
BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao wondered if Rahul was “travelling back in time” as he cited the schedule of The Aspen Institute to claim that its annual event, ‘Weekend with Charlie Rose’, was held between June 25 and July 4.

“Congress is unable to give a proper reason for Rahul’s absence. They are resorting to apparent falsehood and lies to hide facts,” Rao told reporters.
The BJP claimed the institute’s manager had stated that nobody by the name of the Congress leader had either attended its event or was scheduled to participate in future.
The Congress hit back, saying the BJP was making such statements out of frustration as it was staring at defeat in Bihar. Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala said Rahul would be back in India well before campaigning takes off in the first week of October.
