CBI chargesheet handed over to MLAs

In its reconstruction of the sarpanch’s last moments,the CBI states that between 7:52 am and 8:36 am on June 7,2011,Karam Singh’s phone records show place him in the Karnal area,encompassing

the NDRI and Christian cemetery,where he was found in an injured state.

The CBI further states that it has been established that at 7:52 am,Singh had informed his worker at his barber shop,Ramesh,that he was starting from Zile Ram Sharma’s house along with two other people and a driver. On 7 June 2011,at around 8 and 8:15 am Karam Singh was seen moving on the road by one Bitu Kumar and Suresh Kumar,security guards at the main gate of the model diary plant,NDRI,Karnal,when they were coming from their residence to the duty point. The eye-witnesses claimed,it appeared to them that Karam Singh raised his hands for help but they thought that he had consumed liquor due to which they they ‘idn’t go near him. One of the eye-witnesses had seen Karam Singh vomiting while another,who knew the sarpanch,called one of the victim’s family members to inform them about his death.

The CBI has further held in the charge-sheet that the circumstances and evidence collected establish that Karam Singh was fed up by the conduct of accused Zile Ram Sharma,Om Prakash Jain,and Rajinder Sharma,Jain’s personal assista”t. “Amounts paid by him causing grave mental harassment and agony and thereby facilitated the commission of suicide by the decea”ed,” the chargesheet reads.

The CBI claims that Karam Singh told one Ram Kumar Kamboj,who had handed Rs 1 lakh to the sarpanch to get his son Rajender a job,that he had given his money to Zile Ram Sharma and Om Prakash Jain. The premier investigating agency also quotes Satpal,who worked at Karam Singh’s barber shop,that Karam Singh had left the barber shop informing that he was going to the house of MLA,Zile Ram Sharma. The sarpanch was,however,found in a serious condition at the Christian cemetery in Karnal. The charegsheet has also revealed that there were multiple abrasions on the right side of the abdomen of Karam Singh and other body parts. The copy of the challan’s were given to the accused in the case before the court of special CBI magistrate,Atul Marya,who listed the case for scrutiny of challan on September 30.
