An anonymous call claiming that a bomb has been placed at a prominent five-star hotel in the national capital on Thursday sent Delhi Police into a tizzy but it later turned out to be a hoax.

A man telephoned Chanakyapuri Police at around 9:45 am and claimed that a bomb has been placed in Hotel Ashoka,a senior police official said.

Bomb disposal teams and dog squads were rushed to the government-run hotel which searched the multi-storeyed building but found nothing.

The official said it would be difficult to trace the caller as he had directly called the police station. “If he had called Police Control Room,it would have been easy to catch him,” the official said.
