Gangster Abu Salem Tuesday moved an application urging a Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) court to direct author Hussain Zaidi and Penguin Publishers to withdraw the sales of the book My name is Abu Salem.
Special judge G A Sanap has issued notices to Zaidi and the publishers and posted the matter for November 29.
Salem, through his lawyer , quoted chapter 8 of the book, where Zaidi writes: “…after killing builder Pradeep Jain, he gloated about it to his victim’s widow on the 13th day of rituals…”. He contended that the book declares him the killer and chief-conspirator in the case, which is sub-judice. Jain was shot dead in 1995 and Salem is accused of orchestrating the crime. The hearing in the case is at its final stage.
Zaidi said the book has gone through the legal team twice. “Moreover, the contents of the chapter in question is taken word-to-word from Jyoti Pradeep Jain’s deposition.”
