Six policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were suspended Friday for allegedly thrashing four men at Telibandha police station in Raipur. Of the four, one Ashok Dwivedi is the husband of DSP Suresha Chaubey posted in Janjgir-Champa district. Two others are Dwivedi’s brothers.

The four were returning from a hotel in Raipur on Sunday night when they had a scuffle with a biker on the Mahasamund highway. A police party brought them to Telibandha police station where the Dwivedi brothers tried to create a ruckus, city SP Neeraj Chandrakar had said. The Raipur police maintained that the accused were inebriated and tried to influence the Telibandha cops.

However, Dwivedi alleged that the police thrashed them and booked them for various offences.

He sustained serious injuries. A day later, Chaubey approached senior police officers and an FIR was filed against the policemen.
