Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should appear before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) constituted to probe the 2G scam “to clear the blot on his name”.

Speaking to mediapersons after dedicating a slew of projects worth Rs 78 crore in the Abohar sub-division,Sukhbir said: “It was imperative for a person like Manmohan Singh, who holds the post of the Prime Minister,to clear nagging doubts in the minds of people regarding his direct, indirect or tacit involvement in the Rs 1.76 lakh-crore scam that shook foundations of economy of the country… The Prime Minister, like Ceasar’s wife, must be above suspicion.” Non-appearance of the PM and then finance minister P Chidambram before the JPC will strengthen the suspicion that the UPA Government does not want truth to be unveiled,he added.
