The labor department along with NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan rescued 28 child laborers including eight children from Nepal on Thursday.
The children were working at garment factory Mahajan Fabrics in Jaspal Colony of Kakowal road where they were being given Rs 50-200 per week only for stitching T-shirts.
The children aged from 8 to 16 years told they came to India before the Nepal earthquake. “Children have told us that they reached India 10-15 days before the Nepal earthquake,” said Dinesh, NGO, Bachapan Bachao Andolan.

Other kids belong to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. “None of the kids have their parents in Ludhiana which shows that they are the victims of human trafficking,” said Dinesh.
Till the filing of this report, no FIR was registered against the owner of the factory and the medical check up of children was going on at Civil Hospital.
“The children were rescued in daytime and medical check up did not start for more than two hours at Civil Hospital,” alleged Dinesh who accompanied children to hospital. He added that NGO would start work to trace their parents and rehabilitate them.
