Buoyed by the good show of party-supported candidates in the recently concluded zilla panchayat elections, the BSP has started mobilising its workers and supporters for public meetings in every assembly constituency. The BSP is seeking to build an atmosphere in its favour ahead of the 2017 elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Though named “workers’ meet”, some of the public meetings already held saw a sizeable gathering of members of public who are not party workers. Senior leaders have started addressing these meetings that the BSP is also utilising for caste-based mobilisation. The party, however, makes sure not to tag the name of any caste when planning these meetings.
“Our organisation has been built and most of the candidates (for the 2017 polls) have been finalised. It is time for us to start the mobilisation,” said a party coordinator.
