With Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi set to lead a torch march to protest against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over scarcity of water and power, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Sharma said they are taking out the torch rally to find whereabouts of Rahul Gandhi, whom Delhiites have not seen for years. “They are bracing for a ‘Bharat Milaap’ this evening.”

“I think, they are taking out the torch rally to find Rahul Gandhi, as for years Delhi residents have not seen him. They are planning ‘Bharat Milaap’ this evening,” Mishra told reporters.

“I have asked some questions to Rahul Gandhi, if he could understand those questions, he would definitely realise the foolishness behind what he is going to do,” he said.

Listing works taken up by his government in the last two and a half years, Mishra said, “We have laid water pipes in 238 colonies, whereas in Congress’ 15 years of rule, they never laid more than 20-25 pipelines in a year. Besides, We are producing 900gmd of water, but the Congress could never produce more than 800gmd; we are running 1,050 tankers in the city, while they could never cross 700 mark; we are getting full water from Haryana by pitching our voice strongly in the Supreme Court, but they could never get the required water even as they were in government in Delhi and Haryana.”

“They should understand that Delhi was in the hands of those who will be walking down the road with torches in their hands. Had they laid water pipes and increased water production, we would have not faced such problems,” said Mishra, adding that if his government could do it in 2.5 years, why did they fail to do it in the past 60 years?
