BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said he has registered a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan asking to unseat Congress MP Rahul Gandhi from Parliament for being a British citizen.

Swamy said he has requested the Speaker to send the complaint to the ethics committee for further scrutiny.

“The Indian Constitution does not allow dual citizenship, so if Rahul Gandhi’s British citizenship is established then he cannot continue to be an Indian citizen anymore. Further, he should also be disqualified as an MP. The onus is now on him to prove that he is innocent,” Swamy said.
