Hailing the Modi government’s decision to demonitise larger banknotes, Bhartija Janta Party president Amit Shah on Tuesday said that, “This fight against black money will continue.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a televised nationwide address, announced that all Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes will just be worth the paper they’re printed on after November 8.
Asserting that the government has been taking steps for curbing blackmoney in the country, Shah told mediapersons, “Decisions like forming SIT were earlier taken for the same.”
The Reserve Bank of India also said that the government’s decision to demonetise these larger currency notes is a bold move against black money, fake currency and corruption.
The Prime Minister said that blackmoney to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh crore has been unearthed during last two-and-a-half years, since he has started heading the government. He said that India’s enemies are enemies running racket in India through fake currency, from across the border. “Corruption is deep-rooted in the country, said PM Modi, adding that, “Corruption, fake currency and terrorism are festering wounds, holding back the economy.”
