COUNTERING the Opposition’s criticism on the Pakistani Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) visit to India, BJP president Amit Shah said on Tuesday that Islamabad has, for the first time, showed “serious” intent in initiating an investigation into the Pathankot terrorist attack.

He added that the JIT has been given “limited access”.

“Let us wait for the outcome,” he said in Kolkata.

In Delhi, the BJP claimed the JIT’s visit would strengthen the central government’s stand, saying that Pakistan has, for the first time, admitted that its territory was used for the terror attack against India.

“We have adequate evidence that Pakistani territory was used and terrorists based there were involved in the Pathankot attack. They (Pakistan) said they want to send an investigation team. It only strengthens our case and does not weaken it,” said party national secretary Shrikant Sharma.

The BJP president said

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had categorically asked his Pakistani counterpart to take action.
