Ludhiana: ‘Spy’ Surjeet Singh cremated

Surjeet spent almost 30 years in a Pakistan jail, after he was caught by the Pakistan army. He had claimed that he was a spy who was sent to Pakistan on a secret mission.

Surjeet Singh, who had claimed that he was an Indian spy, was cremated on Tuesday. He had died of a cardiac arrest. Surjeet spent almost 30 years in a Pakistan jail, after he was caught by the Pakistan army. He had claimed that he was a spy who was sent to Pakistan on a secret mission.

The Indian government, however, did not recognise him as a spy. After intense negotiations and court battles, Pakistan released him in 2012.
