Lt Gen I S Ghuman is Chief of Staff Western Command

Lt Gen I S Ghuman took over as the Chief of Staff, Western Command, in Chandimandir on Monday. He has assumed office in place of Lt Gen Gurdeep Singh who retired from service a month ago.

Lt Gen Ghuman was commissioned into The Brigade of Guards in 1981. An alumnus of NDA Khadakvasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, he has held various command, staff and instructional appointments in various Commands.

Lt Gen Ghuman commanded an Infantry Battalion in Op Parakram. He also commanded an Infantry Brigade and an Infantry Division with varied operational roles.
