Lift stay on case against Virbhadra Singh’s children: ED

The CM and his wife are facing a CBI probe for alleged abuse of power and money-laundering.

Justifying its decision to attach assets of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s children, the Enforcement Directorate urged the Delhi High Court Monday to lift its stay on proceedings against them under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

“…the schemes of the Act, as it now operated, was directed not only against the persons and judicial entities which are prosecuted for scheduled offence by various agencies like CBI, Customs, SEBI etc, but also operates qua persons who conceal, possess, acquire, use and project or claim proceeds of crime,” Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, who appeared for ED, said.

The CM and his wife are facing a CBI probe for alleged abuse of power and money-laundering. Their two children have not been named in the CBI investigation, but have been probed by the ED.
