Patiala house district court Bar association has sent a letter to the High Court Chief Justice to take cognizance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s remarks about alleged tapping of judges’ phones.
On October 31, at a function to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Delhi High Court, Kejriwal had alleged that he had “heard” two judges say that their phones were being tapped. Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had refuted the allegations.
The letter, which was sent by the New Delhi Bar Association (NDBA) to the office of the Chief Justice in November, has said the allegations were a “serious issue” and asked the court to find out the two judges, who had been the alleged victims.
The letter has also asked the court to “unearth” how and where the allegations of phone tapping of judges had reached the CM, as it was “putting a bad impression in the minds of public at large and lowering the reputation of the judicial system”. The Chief Justice’s office could not be contacted for a comment.
