Kerala solar scam: Key accused told to produce ‘original’ letter with ‘VIP names’

If Saritha Nair produces the original letter containing the names of politicians who had sexually exploited her, it would be a major embarrassment for the Congress government in Kerala.

The judicial commission probing the Kerala solar scam Tuesday directed prime accused Saritha S Nair to produce the original letter written by her to the court while she was lodged in a jail. The letter in question was reportedly written by Nair to the court, mentioning details of politicians and others who had allegedly abused her.

Justice G Sivarajan rejected Nair’s claim that the letter was personal in nature, and therefore could not be produced before the commission.

Last week, former Kerala DGP (Jail) Alexander Jacob had told the commission that Nair had reportedly written a letter, which had names of 13 VIPs and a senior police officer. He also claimed that the letter did not have the name of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Jacob had also stated that the letter, which was originally 21 pages long, was reduced to four pages after a person visited her.

The letter, meant to be submitted in the court through Saritha’s lawyer, was handed over to the jail superintendent.
