Small-time Malayalam film actor Sreejith Ravi was Friday arrested on charges of allegedly misbehaving with schoolgirls at Ottapalam in Kerala’s Palakkad district. He was later granted bail by the district sessions court.

The actor, who is also a businessman, was arrested after a complaint from the school principal, police said. A group of girls at the private school told the principal last Saturday that a person allegedly exposed his private parts to them and took their photos using his cellphone. The accused, according to the girls, was sitting in his car, parked on the road leading to the school. The students had handed over the registration number of the vehicle, which belongs to Ravi, son of seasoned film actor T G Ravi.

Police took Ravi into custody on Thursday and investigation found that his phone was in use at the area stated in the principal’s complaint. The students identified Ravi when his photo was shown to them, leading to his arrest under POCSO Act.

Ravi has denied the charges, claiming that he was engaged in a video chat with a friend in the area, police sources said.
