Statements of four taxi drivers who claimed to have witnessed Jat quota violence in Haryana was recorded Monday. One among them is learnt to have stated that “he saw a group of women with torn clothes running for ther lives on the Karnal-Delhi National highway”.
A woman police officer from Haryana was in Ludhiana to record the statement of the four witnesses. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Women Cell, Karnal, Surinder Kaur had summoned the witnesses from Ludhiana as well as nearby villages to Shimlapuri Police Station where she recorded their statements.

Speaking to The Indian Express, a source in the police said, “One of the four taxi drivers said he saw a group of women. Their clothes were torn. The driver also said that the women appeared to be very nervous. They were running on the roadside. Other drivers complained of how Jat protesters stopped their vehicles, pelted stones on them and misbehaved.”
The drivers also told the DSP that they were going to Delhi when they were intercepted by protesters. The DSP said “investigations are on and nothing can be revealed as of now”.
She added “all four witnesses have requested anonymity”.
SHO, Shimplauri police station, Inspector Balwinder Singh confirmed that four taxi drivers recorded their statement before the DSP Monday.
