Man ‘kills’ teen daughter over affair with SC boy, arrested

Police said that Byrareddy recently came to know that his daughter, who hailed from the Vokkaliga caste, was in a relationship with one Harish, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste Bhovi.

A man from Karnataka’s Kolar district has been arrested for allegedly killing his 17-year-old daughter on Sunday night over her relationship with a boy belonging to a Scheduled Caste.

Police said that Byrareddy recently came to know that his daughter, who hailed from the Vokkaliga caste, was in a relationship with one Harish, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste Bhovi, and reportedly met him despite her father’s objections. Byrareddy then allegedly took her to his farm Sunday night and strangulated her. Her body was recovered from the farm.

Besides arresting Byrareddy, police have detained his wife Padma and their son. ENS
