On its polling day, the City Corporation of Panaji (CCP) registers 74.81 per voters turnout. “Of the 23,675 voters, 74.36 percent were males and 75.22 per cent females. While the BJP supported panel has setup candidates in all the 30 wards, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee’s panel has 20, whereas another floated by former Congress leader and incumbent MLA from Santa Cruz, Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate has drawn 30 local candidates to the fray, rest 15 candidates are either fighting as standalone or in minor groups.
If the political speculation are to be believed, CCP election will witness a close battle between BJP led ‘Panjim First’ panel and Panjim City Corporation Development Front (PCCDF) floated by Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate.
The result of the polls which will be declared on Tuesday (March 8), will seal the fate of 95 candidates who are contending to represent 30 seats of CCP wards.
