David Coleman Headley will be cross-examined by the lawyer of 26/11 accused Syed Zabiuddin Ansari between March 22 and March 25, said special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam on Thursday. This comes more than a month after Headley deposed via video-conferencing. He, at that point, was not asked about Ansari’s role, in whose trial he has been made approver.

Nikam informed a special court that the United States Department of Justice had agreed to produce Headley, currently serving a 35-year jail term is the US, for cross-examination. Ansari’s lawyer, advocate Abdul Wahab Khan, had last month, told the court that he required four days to question Headley.

Judge G A Sanap, however, pointed out that the court would remain closed on March 23 and March 24 for Holi and asked Nikam to seek alternative dates. The judge also suggested that there might not be a need for the court to function on March 23 and 24 if the cross-examination wraps up on March 22 itself.
