Dadri lynching: UP govt announces Rs 10 lakh compensation to next of kin

Chief Minister Akhilseh Yadav has also instructed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida to provide full protection to the family of the victim.

An ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh was today announced by the UP government to the kin of a 50-year-old man, who was allegedly lynched by a mob following rumours that his family was involved in the slaughter of a cow in Dadri area of Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

Chief Minister Akhilseh Yadav has also instructed the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida to provide full protection to the family of the victim.

“Chief Minister has announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased in the Dadri mob lynch. UP Government will bear all the medical expenses of the other victim in the incident,” an official spokesman said here.

“Chief Medical Officer, Noida has been asked to personally ensure best care for the victim,” he said. The man, Mohammad Akhlaq, was beaten to death yesterday and his 22-year-old son was seriously injured for allegedly eating and storing beef.
