Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, arguably one of the most recognisable personalities in India, has moved the Delhi High Court against unscrupulous elements misusing her name and image online. In her plea, Rai alleged that several websites, claiming to be associated with her, are deceiving customers using her name. Through the plea, Rai sought a court order directing Google to take down such fraudulent links. Read more
After attacking India for days, US President Donald Trump’s senior trade advisor, Peter Navarro, has now turned his attention to BRICS, terming its member countries as “vampires” whose “unfair trade practices” were exploiting America. Ravinder Singh Chauhan, a 30-year-old cook at a dhaba in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, has been left shocked after he received a Rs 46 crore income-tax notice. Chauhan, who has only studied till Class VI, said the bank account was opened in 2019 when he was working as a mess helper at a toll plaza on Gwalior bypass. He left the job in 2023 and he believes that someone may have misused it to carry out large financial transactions. Read more
Thailand’s Supreme Court has said that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra must serve a one-year prison term for previous graft and abuse of power convictions. The former PM had so far avoided a jail term, following his return to Thailand in 2023 after more than a decade of self-exile. Shinawatra’s eight-year jail sentence was commuted to one year, out of which he only spent one day in jail. He was moved to a hospital on medical grounds, where he spent the next six months, until he was released on parole. Read more
Google has announced that AI mode is now available in Hindi alongside four new languages – Brazilian Portuguese, Indonesian, Korean and Japanese. This means users will now be able to ask complicated and more explanatory questions like finding local recommendations, understanding complex how-tos and planning a trip using text, voice or uploading an image.
