The police late on Wednesday night have booked Punjab School Education Boards (PSEB) Jalandhar depot manager for allegedly fudging dates on supplementary (Compartment) exam forms for Classes X and XII students in lieu of money. An agent was also arrested in this connection.
Jalandhar depot manager Sucheta Kalia has been accused of getting forms filled in back date in return for money. The police said that agent Anil Sharma,who used to supply books to the Jalandhar depot,used to fill the forms and give receipts in back date while charging Rs 400 per form.
As per rules,the Board charges Rs 500 late fee per form. While June 25 was the last date to submit forms for supplementary exams,but due to heavy rush at the depot office,many students could not submit their forms.
The agent said the stamp and receipt book were given to him by Sucheta Kalia and he was asking for the money on her behalf,said a police officer. The police have recovered four receipt books signed by Sucheta Kalia and a stamp from the possession of Anil Sharma, ACP Naresh Dogra said,adding that Kalia has been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and she is absconding.
Sharma was arrested following a tip-off while he was filling forms and issuing receipts in back dates in Adarsh Nagar Area Park on June 27. The police also recovered three more receipt books from his place in Kahnadhesian village. According to Sharma,he had filled 150 forms in back date by charging hefty amount.
