After 42 years of existence,the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is set to join the list of countrys pioneering institutions,which have their own anthem and a research journal.
Proposed by Vice-Chancellor A D N Vajpai on the 41th foundation day of the university held on July 22,the anthem has been written by Rajender Mishr,the former vice-chancellor of Dr Sampoornanda Sanskrit University in Vanarasi. It will be released on the opening day of the universitys Foundation Day by Governor Urmila Singh,said Vajpai.
For the first time,the university has proposed to celebrate its Foundation Day,which is going to be a three-day affair. Union Minister of State for Communication and IT Sachin Pilot will be the chief guest at valedictory function on July 24.
The anthem comprises seven stanzas and tries to give one a glimpse of the natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh,also known as land of Gods and deities. In the 70-second anthem,the university campus has been compared to Lord Buddha. It is a combination of Sanskrit and Hindi and the music is being composed by HPUs performing arts department.
