Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof engaged in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, focusing on enhancing the “good relations” between the Netherlands and India, while also addressing the ongoing “war in Ukraine.”
In a post on X, Schoof highlighted their discussions about opportunities for closer collaboration through a “strategic partnership” in key areas such as security, semiconductors, healthcare, and green hydrogen.
Schoof’s government, which took office in July, marks a new chapter in Dutch-Indian relations.
“I just had my first phone call with Prime Minister @narendramodi of India. We spoke about further strengthening the good relations between the Netherlands and India and about opportunities to work together more closely through a strategic partnership in areas like security, water, green hydrogen, agriculture, semiconductors, and healthcare. We also discussed other matters such as the war in Ukraine,” he shared on social media.
The conflict in Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022.
Modi reciprocated on X, expressing his pleasure in speaking with PM Schoof. “The Netherlands is a trusted & valued partner. We are committed to advancing and providing a strategic dimension to bilateral ties in diverse sectors including water, agriculture, security, technology, semiconductors, and renewable energy,” he said.
