Draft delimitation: EC meets political parties in Assam

The panel of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel received feedback from the AAP, the Congress, CPI(M) BJP, Asom Gana Parishad, All-India United Democratic Front, United Peoples Party Liberal, and Bodoland People’s Front, the EC said.

On Day Two of its three-day visit to Assam, the Election Commission on Thursday met representatives of national and state parties as a part of the consultative process for delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies.

The panel of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel received feedback from the AAP, the Congress, CPI(M) BJP, Asom Gana Parishad, All-India United Democratic Front, United Peoples Party Liberal, and Bodoland People’s Front, the EC said.

The Commission also heard 645 representations from individuals and groups from 13 districts.

On Wednesday, the panel had heard 270 representations from nine districts and the hearings will continue on Friday, the Commission stated.
