Indian Railways Partially Confirmed Ticket, Diwali 2025 Train Travel: With the onset of the festive season, getting a confirmed train ticket has become increasingly difficult due to high demand and a surge in bookings. To ensure smooth and safe travel for passengers during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has introduced a number of special trains, both reserved and unreserved.

However, in many cases, passengers book up to six tickets under a single PNR. At the time of chart preparation, it may happen that out of three tickets, two get confirmed while one remains on the waiting list.

This often raises questions such as: can the third passenger travel with a waitlisted ticket, and is he or she allowed to board the train in such a situation?

Speaking to Indianexpress.com, a senior railway official explained that if one ticket under a PNR remains waitlisted while the others are confirmed, all passengers listed under that PNR are permitted to board the train.

“Passengers holding a partially confirmed ticket under a single PNR can travel together and board the train,” the official said.

This means that if a person, say ‘A’, books tickets for three passengers under one PNR, and two tickets are confirmed while one remains on the waiting list, all three passengers will still be allowed to travel together.
