Demonetisation: Two senior citizens die while in queues to withdraw money

80-year-old Biswadeb Naskar and 72-year-old Rabin Mukherjee died while standing in queues to withdraw money.

Two elderly persons, one of them a pension holder, died after being taken ill while in queues to withdraw money today, in two separate incidents in West Bengal. The police said that 80-year-old Biswadeb Naskar was taken ill while in a queue to draw his monthly pension in front of the branch of the UBI Bank at Raidighi in South 24-Parganas district.

A resident of Kankandighi in the Raidighi police station area, Naskar was taken to a local hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’. His body was taken to Diamond Harbour for post mortem.

In the neighbouring South 24-Parganas district, 72-year-old Rabin Mukherjee similarly died just after withdrawing money from an SBI branch at Machlandapur town, SP Bhaskar Banerjee said.

His body was taken to a hospital in Habra for post mortem.
