A CRPF trooper was killed and another wounded as Maoists set off three Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts and fired at separate places in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar on Tuesday. Kamal Singh, the trooper, was killed in Dantewada while two more IEDs were set off at Narayanpur.

Officials said that the blast in Dantewada took place around 11.15 am when a team of CRPF and police was providing security to road construction workers on the Aranpur (Dantewada)-Jagargunda (Sukma) axis.

“When the security men were cordoning off a patch between Kondapara and Kondasawli villages, the Maoists detonated the IED and started firing in which two head constables were injured,” said an officer, adding that the injured were shifted to a hospital in Raipur.
