Cash worth Rs 1 lakh, 250 gm gold jewelry and other valuables were looted from the house of a property dealer in broad daylight in sector 32 on Chandigarh road on Monday.
Meenakshi Sharma, wife of property dealer Yashpal Sharma, was alone at her home when the incident took place.
Meenakshi told police that two knocked the door at around 2 pm and told her that her son Varun has asked them to bring some keys from home. She said that when she went to get the keys the accused followed her and demanded the keys of the locker.
When the victim refused to give the keys, the accused threatened her with a knife and held her hostage. The area residents told police that the accused fled away on bullet motorcycle.
On being informed, the division number 7 police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
Inspector Dalip Bedi said the police is trying to get CCTV footage from nearby buildings.
