A 14-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped by a group of persons from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district,police here said today.

Lovejeet,a class VIII student,was abducted yesterday when he was on his way to school,SSP of Tarn Taran district,Manminder Singh,said.

The boy’s father lodged a complaint with the police this morning after he received a call demanding Rs 12 lakh as ransom for his son’s safe release.

Police traced the call to one Lakhwinder Singh,a resident of Ammi Shah Wala village in the district,officials said,adding a search operation is on to rescue the boy and to nab the culprits.
