Police officer,2 constables suspended in suicide case

A police officer and two constables were suspended in connection with the suicide committed by two sisters.

A police officer and two constables were suspended today in connection with the suicide committed by two sisters due to alleged police excesses.

Two constables,Praveen and Ashok,who had gone to the residence of the deceased Dipanjali (21) and her younger sister Pushpanjali (16) and told them to withdraw cases against two fellow policemen were suspended by the Sagar

Police Range Inspector General (IG) A Mangalam,police said.

Orcha Road Police Station House Officer K K Khaneja too has been suspended for being lax in performing his duties,police said.

Constable Kanhaiyalal Tiwari and Arvind Pal had allegedly shot a photograph of Dipanjali after forcing her to remove clothes and had also blackmailed her,police said.

After Tiwari and Pal demanded Rs 10,000 from Dipanjali,she along with her younger sister,both daughters of a school teacher Rajkumar,lodged a report with a senior police officer who in turn booked the two constables.

Tiwari had been arrested while efforts were on to nab Pal,police said.

Both sisters had consumed some poisonous substance to end life. Dipanjali,who was rushed to a hospital died last evening while Pushpanjali breathed her last this morning while undergoing treatment in Jhansi,police said.
