Late Monday evening, a second health review of Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik saw teams from AIIMS Delhi being flown to Goa. Doctors said Naik’s test results have come negative for Covid-19 but “a second review was felt needed as his chest probes needed a second opinion”.

On why doctors were being flown in from Delhi, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “His (Naik) oxygen saturation had decreased in the morning. A second review was therefore felt needed.”

The Union minister is recuperating at private Manipal Hospital, where he was admitted on August 14 – after testing positive on August 12, the minister had tweeted, “…it [test report] has turned out asymptomatically positive. My vitals are within normal limits and I have opted for home isolation.”

The Goa government Friday said Naik had responded well to the first cycle of plasma administered to him.
