The Uttar Pradesh police Friday claimed to have recovered 23-year-old law student, who went missing after uploading a video on facebook blaming an ‘influential sant-politician’ for allegedly harassing and destroying lives of many girls in her college, from Rajasthan.
A native of Shahjahanpur, victim was missing for the last six days. However, the college authorities have claimed that the student has been absent since the beginning of the third semester on August 5.
Former BJP MP Chinmayanand, who is also president of the college’s management committee, was booked on charges of abduction on a complaint of girl’s father.
“Police team caught her in Rajasthan. Police team is bringing her to Shahjahanpur. We would question her in detail,” said Superintendent of Police, Shahjahanpur, Shiasimpi Channapa.
He added, the girl was accompanied by a youth, who also hails from Shahjahanpur.
The police team, which was regularly conducting raids to trace the girl, have learnt that they had withdrawn Rs 1500 from an ATM in Jaipur yesterday. The money was swap from the card owned by the youth, who was accompanying the girl.
Meanwhile, the Shahahnpur police had yesterday pasted posters of the girl in the district in order to get any information about her. Additional Director General, Bareilly zone, Avinash Chandra said, “the girl’s father in a complaint to the police did not mention about sexual harassment.”
