Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday announced that his government will establish a welfare board for Brahmins in the state. A welfare board has been a long standing demand of the Brahmin association in Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at Akshayaotsav, a function on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti in the temple complex, in Bhopal, Chouhan said that Brahmins have made a special contribution in protecting religion and culture.
Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham, who stoked controversies over magic tricks, was accompanying Chouhan.
The Chief Minister also announced construction of a building in Gufa Mandir premises for convenience of devotees. “Lord Parshuram was the God of justice. He took up arms to destroy the oppressor. With his inspiration, strict action is being taken against goons, miscreants & Naxalites in Madhya Pradesh,” Chouhan said.
“Arrangements have been made to include a life-sketch of Bhagwan Shri Parshuram in the syllabus of class 8th in the state, give scholarship to the students studying Sanskrit and honorarium to the priests,” he said.
About 3,547 Sanskrit teachers have been appointed in government schools and more will be appointed, if needed, the CM added.
