Eye on polls, BJP appoints senior leaders as in-charges in 4 states
While in Rajasthan, the party leadership appointed Union Minister Pralhad Joshi as the state in-charge, in Madhya Pradesh it is Union minister Bhupender Yadav.

On a day the top leadership was huddled in meetings, the BJP appointed Union ministers and senior party leaders as in-charges for the upcoming state elections this year, stepping up its preparations.
In Rajasthan, the BJP leadership appointed Union Minister Pralhad Joshi as in-charge. Former Gujarat deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and former Haryana Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, who joined the saffron party in August last year, have been appointed co-in charges. They will lead and coordinate the electioneering for the party ahead of the Assembly polls later this year.

In Chhattisgarh, senior party leader Om Prakash Mathur will be in charge, while Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya will assist him in preparations for the state elections.
Union minister and senior party leader Bhupender Yadav will be in charge of Madhya Pradesh elections while ministerial colleague Ashwini Vaishnaw will assist him.
In southern Telangana, where the party is desperate to become the alternative force, senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar will be in charge while party general secretary Sunil Bansal will be co-in-charge for the election preparations.
The leaders appointed as in-charges of states will have a crucial role in picking candidates as well as in the campaign strategy preparation and implementation.
The appointments come at a time when the party’s top leadership has been in marathon meetings to finalise strategies for its preparations ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election and the state elections due later this year. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah and they were later joined by BJP national president J P Nadda, key leaders from northern, central and western states are meeting at the party headquarters. Leaders from the east and northeastern states met in Guwahati on Thursday.

Sources said the meetings were part of an exercise for revamping and re-organising the party and the government ahead of the elections.
