Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s cavalcade met with an accident on Wednesday leading to the death of a police man and injuring six others.
CM Sharma’s cavalcade was coming from Jagatpura in Jaipur when a taxi, coming in a perpendicular direction while on the wrong side, hit the cavalcade.
According to eyewitnesses, the taxi hit the first two vehicles in the cavalcade at the Akshay Patra intersection. CM Sharma stepped out of his vehicle and sent the injured to the hospital in his vehicle.
Assistant Sub Inspector Surendra Singh, who had attempted to stop the speeding vehicle as it approached the intersection, was fatally hit by the car. Singh, who sustained injuries to his head, died later in the evening. Including him, a total of five policemen were injured in the incident. Two civilians, including the driver of the taxi, were also injured.
The driver of the taxi was identified as Pawan Kumar Kalu Ram. Ministers Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Jhabar Singh Kharra visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured.
